Back in September, I began my biggest DIY project to-date. This by far outweighs our previous crown moulding projects and window trimming work. This project was full of curveballs, starts and stops, second guesses, and even some bouts of self-doubt. But I pressed on and powered through, and today I’m sharing the before-and-after of my first big DIY triumph – this antique steamer trunk makeover.
There is no better Halloween muse for an English major than Edgar Allan Poe! The whole idea for this mantel started when I sat down to make this ravens book page banner for the October Silhouette Challenge. Antiqued book pages, sparkly black ravens and spooky portraits, all coming together to create this hauntingly festive Halloween mantel decor!
Now that the interior of our home is decked out for Fall (check out our Fall home tour here), it was time to turn out attention to the exterior! I kept our Fall porch decor pretty simple, as I usually do, with some pretty mums and clusters of pumpkins.
The older I get, the more I look forward to and enjoy the Fall season. There’s something about the settling in and cozying up: the warm sweaters, dark denim and camel-colored boots that I’ve come to love. I was really relishing the act of decorating our home for Fall this year, and I’m so excited to share my Fall Home Tour with you today!
You may have caught a glimpse of this wooden beer crate as part of my Fall Mantel decor earlier this week (see it here). While the crate is fantastic on its own, I thought it needed a little somethin’ to spice it up a bit, and that little somethin’ is a fabric liner. And today I’m going to show you how to sew a fabric crate liner, in case you have your own vintage wooden beer crates in need of some chic fabric liners! (wink)
