Cheers to Art, No. 3

I’ve done landmarks and footwear at Cheers to Art. Now it’s time for vases and flowers.

This was my third trip to Cheers to Art in Madeira, Ohio, and it continues to be a blast! Seriously, you must try this, or something like it, if you can. I also planned ahead for this one, and decided to go outside of the “advertised” color palette. I’m planning teals and limes for our bonus room (more on that later this week), so I figured I might as well create some art to hang in the space!

My friend Kris painted with me (thanks Kris!) I love how hers turned out! I’m sort of wishing I’d thrown in some orange or maybe just a smidge of purpley red for the flowers.

My First Blogiversary!

Today is the day, friends! Two Purple Couches is one!

A year ago, I got up enough courage to create a post and hit “publish” for the first time. It was a big leap, to think that anyone would actually be interested in the little crafts I create, or what’s currently on my mantel. But I’m so glad I did it! This year has been so much fun and I’ve gotten to know so many amazing people.

Weekend Recap

Our weekend can be boiled down to the following: shopping, partying, crafting, eating, drinking and glitterizing. So clearly, it was a pretty good one all around.

The inspiration for these ornaments comes from the lovely and talented Ez of Creature Comforts. I followed her tutorial here to make these clay lollipop ornaments. I started them last Sunday, and finally finished them on Saturday. The clay-rolling and shape-cutting took longer than I expected. And then, since I like to make projects for myself, I decided to paint them in a whole rainbow of rich jewely-tone colors. And then, I decided that the glitter swirlies would look even better if I did them in a monochromatic scheme to match the paint color. Oh, Emily, when are you going to learn to Keep. Things. Simple? Oh what’s that? Never? Oh, okay. Cool.

In short, if I had it to do all over again, I’d do it exactly the same way. I love the tone-on-tone glitter and paint results.

Shifting gears from edible-looking to actually edible, I swung by a local farmer’s market to see my friend’s first public debut of her delicious cupcakes! If you’re anywhere in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, and in need of something delicious, decadent, and spiked with alcohol, do yourself a favor and order some Twisted Sugar cupcakes! I brought home a Gingerbread (pictured) and a Raspberry Bellini cupcake. Yum!

Weekly Wishlist: Graphic Tablewares

I don’t mean graphic as in R-rated, but graphic as in bold patterns and colors!

There are some days when I daydream about having an all-white kitchen – white cabinetry, white countertops, white tile floors… and today is one of them. Can you image how fun and energized an all-white kitchen would look with pops of these plates, platters and teapots? Gah! Is it too late to change out our maple and cherry for white, white, white, white?
