Weekly Wishlist: Watercolor Trees by Angie Vandenbogaard

I’ve been admiring Angie’s watercolor trees ever since I discovered Etsy (circa 2008). There’s something about them that just makes me smile. She offers a bright, bold, friendly palette of colors, and I love the unique personality that each print takes on.

After so many years of admiring, I’ve finally purchased one for myself!

This is her “Hello” Print.

And I promise, promise, promise that one of these days, the elusive Family Room Gallery Wall is going to make an appearance (I’m saying this more for me than for you. I need to get a move on!). What I expected to be a quick, throw-it-together display turned into a time consuming “labor of love” where I began second-guessing everything I chose… But it’s all good now. It’s underway. And this adorable “Hello” print will be prominently featured!

You can shop Angie’s prints on Etsy here.

Weekly Wishlist: Autumn Accents

It’s beginning to look a lot like… Autumn! In preparation for the changing of the seasons, I’ve pulled together some home accents that really set the mood for crisp nights, hot cider and weekends spent watching football.

The natural texture of these candle holders feel perfect for fall. Check out their shop for more sizes and shapes. With so many options, you could create a nice little arrangement on a mantle, shelf, or even a table centerpiece.

These felted acorns would look so cute collected in a dish or bowl, or even just casually scattered on a table. The plum and chartreuse palette is a fresh take on traditional reds, oranges and yellows. (And would perfectly match my family room, wink, wink).

I ADORE this wreath – the raven totally makes it. And makes me want to read some Poe.

You knew there had to be an owl in here, right? 😉 Love me some owls!

These pumpkins are so fun! I have so many visions for my front porch this season… I think I need to make some room for some painted pumpkins! Imagine the possibilities!

What’s on your wishlist this week? How do you incorporate Autumn elements into your decor? (I’m still working on this… my collection of Autumn decor is pitifully small… trying to do a few vignettes around the house without breaking the bank!)

Weekly Wishlist: Watercolor Art by Jessica Durrant

I’ve been spending a lot of time recently on Etsy, searching for a few special prints to include in our family room gallery wall. In my hunt, I came across artist Jessica Durrant, and her gorgeous watercolors.

My absolute favorites are her “Wanderlust Inspired” travel illustrations. I just think they are incredible – the colors, the subject matter, and the beautiful drips and smudges that just accent the hand-done quality of her work.

I did inquire about having a custom watercolor done of the Cincinnati Skyline, but it was a bit more than I want to spend on this project. Maybe in the future… for a special occasion or gift…

See all of Jessica’s beautiful prints in her shop.

Weekly Wishlist: Mirrored Chests

This week finds me wide-eyed over some absolutely stunning mirrored chests. I think a piece of mirrored furniture adds instant elegance and interest to a room. An immediate conversation piece with loads of class.

If you’re apprehensive of taking such a glitzy leap, start small with an accent table. Me? I’d go straight for a giant chest of drawers! These three selections were found via Horchow. You can find even more options (including console tables, accent tables, and mirrored mirrors) on my Pinterest board here.

The wood detail on this is so beautiful, this chest only needs simple accessories to set it apart in any room – a simple vase of flowers or a favorite piece of art leaned against a wall. That way you’d get all colors reflecting on the top!

This is such a stylish, elegant chest. I love the shape, how the drawers are staggered to give it depth. And legs looks like prisms!

This one literally took my breath away! The detail is incredible. The website description states that it is covered in 240 individually beveled mirrors in a basketweave pattern. In-cre-di-ble. And of course, I love the name 😉

Mirror, Mirror On Our Wall

This is probably a silly question, because I know I can’t possibly be alone in this practice, but… Do you ever buy decor for your home without really knowing what you’re going to do with it or where you’re going to put it? You buy it just because you like it and you figure you’ll find a spot for it eventually?

Well, I am guilty of these habits. But I also have a rather pathetic little tale about one item in particular.

I bought this metal mirror from Kohls in early 2007. I had every intention of hanging it up in our first home after we got married. But we never seemed to find the right place for it  – ahem – it took us forever to start hanging things on our walls, and then we gave up when we decided to move.

But today, friends, is an epic day. At least in the life of this little metal decorative mirror from Kohls. For today, this guy finally found his place in life. On a wall. In our home.

Though this didn’t come without it’s hiccups – it was a bit of a process to hunt down the right screws, and then we ended up having to shave them down a bit to get them through the brackets. But at least we got it up! And it only took about 5.5 years! Whew!
