Tour Through Blogland

Have you seen some of the recent tours through Blogland? It’s been a fun sort of get-to-know-you round robin, with one blogger sharing another, then that blogger shares another, and so on. It’s a neat way to get to know more about each other and to show what goes on “behind the scenes” of our blogs.

Modern Fall Mantel

I took a slightly different approach to my Fall mantel this year. While I do love much of the traditional decor you find during the Fall season, it just doesn’t jive so well with my style. But I was still so inspired by the mantels I shared last week, that I had to change things up for the season, just with my own twist!

Puffy Paint DIY Throw Pillow

You know how “throwback” is all the rage these days? Well, all these throwbacks got me thinking of all the crafting I did as a child, and of my favorite childhood craft supply: puffy paint! Though I think now it’s referred to as “dimensional craft paint” because I guess that sounds fancier?

Anyways, my brain has been coming up with all kinds of puffy paint diy projects to try. Then one day I was musing on my love of throw pillows. And this crafty brain-child was born… a puffy paint diy throw pillow!

Shop Styling at Celebrate by Kate

I could give you a lot of answers to the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. An author. A shop owner. A designer. A stylist. A party planner. The list goes on. This is part of the reason why I went all out planning my 30th birthday bash back in June. Putting on my party planner/stylist hat and going hog wild with streamers and garland was immensely satisfying to all the creative parts of my brain.

So you can imagine the glee that spread from head to toe and the grin from ear-to-ear when local party supply boutique Celebrate by Kate asked me if I’d like to style a special section of their shop for September.

Getting Started: Our Master Bedroom Makeover

This past weekend was sort of a big one: the chill of Fall was in the air, the NFL regular season kicked off (#whodey!), and Tom & I began our next big project: our Master Bedroom Makeover!

We haven’t done much of anything with our bedroom since moving in. Really, all we’ve done is arrange our furniture and hang our clothes in the closet. But we knew we’d get to it eventually, and one of the big new “pieces” of the room would be the quilt my mom and I began working on together last summer.
