DIY Valentine’s Bookmark

Need a last-minute Valentine idea? How about a bookmark!

S&S bookmark

What you’ll need:

– scrapbook paper

– cardstock

– ribbon or yarn pom (optional)

P&P bookmark

What to do:

Measure and cut both your scrapbook paper and cardstock to the same dimensions; the ones I made are about 6-inches x 2-inches.

Glue your scrapbook paper to your cardstock. Add any extra shapes, letters, whatever you please. I “embellished” mine with some scrapbook paper hearts I made with a paper punch.

If you want to add a tassel, yarn pom or ribbon, use a hole punch at the top of your bookmark, and thread through.

Add a little hand-written note on the back to your special Valentine <3

vday note

What’s your favorite romance novel or romantic story? Mine is clearly of the Jane Austen variety 😉

A Hoot of a Handmade Gift

Image

I originally wanted to post these for the Dare to DIY: Give Homemade challenge, but I didn’t want the recipients to see them before they received their gifts!

I saw a pin on Pinterest a while back for homemade fabric owls, and I thought they were cute as can be. So, with some major help from my mom, I decided to give them a go. We had some challenges figuring out how to create the pattern (the images from the original blog post were difficult to read), but after some trial, error, and image enlarging, we got them to be the size we wanted! We followed the rest of the blog tutorial to put them together.

Weekly Wishlist: More Time!!!

Okay, so this is a little different than my usual Weekly Wishlists. I cannot believe that Christmas is 6. Days. Away. Where did December go? Why do I still have a huge to-do list for the holidays? Why haven’t I mailed out my greeting cards yet? Why is my house still only half decorated? Why are my DIY gifts not done? Ack!

::deep breaths::

So, if I had all the time in the world, here are some of the things I’d love to do for this holiday season:

– DIY ornaments (for myself and for gifts), like some of the fantastic ones created by IHeartOrganizing

IHeartOrganizing diy ornaments

– DIY decorations

DIY trees by Shauna Mailloux

– a themed Christmas tree (probably to fit in with my “Winter Wonderland” vision)
– baking and candy-making up a storm

dark chocolate peppermint bark via the lake kitchen
ghirardelli english toffee
martha stewart chocolate truffles
salted caramel fudge via eclectic recipes

– create a way to display all the holiday cards we’ve received (inspiration via IHeartOrganizing)

IHeartOrganizing card display

– DIY-ing some wrapping paper and gift bags
pianted heart bag via v and co

pom pom wrapping via whipperberry

…just to name a few. I guess there’s always next year! 😉

Are you on-track or stressed the %#^& out? Do you have any tips on how I can create more hours in a day?

Weekend Recap: Crafty Supermarket Success!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. The weather here in Cincinnati was pretty awesome (again). Not as warm as last weekend, but still full of sunshine and lightweight-jacket temps. These things make it so much easier to deal with the fact that it’s pitch-black outside by 5:30 p.m. Anywho, I had eagerly been awaiting this weekend for the Crafty Supermarket, an “indie craft show” featuring such awesomeness as is often found on Etsy or Pinterest. This was my first time, but it definitely won’t be my last. I snagged some awesome jewelry and paper goods by local/independent artists. Sorry for the grainy photos; I took them at night, with my phone.

Did you go to the Crafty Supermarket? Or to another local crafty event of your choosing? Did you get a head start on your holiday shopping, unlike me?
