Thanksgiving Gratitude Pumpkin

This article was originally published in the November 2015 issue of VRAI Magazine.

In my opinion, a book page covered pumpkin has become a classic element of Fall decorating. I love their charm and versatility. And really, I love any project that involves book pages, as you can see here, here and here.

But as I was thinking about the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, I thought the classic book page covered pumpkin could use a special, personalized twist. Instead of ripping through a dollar-store or thrifted book, I decided to make my own pages, filled with personal notes of thankfulness.

Yep, that’s how much I love washi tape. And Amy’s book does not disappoint!

Wintry Owls Christmas Ornament

Christmas is my favorite holiday, and decorating our Christmas tree is my favorite holiday activity. We collect all kinds of ornaments and I love pulling the bins out each year and remembering special events and travel destinations based on the ornaments we bought or received that year. So I was super excited to find out that Erlene from My Pinterventures was gathering up 80 (!) bloggers to participate in an Ornament Exchange. I was paired with Michelle from Our Crafty Mom, and it was easy to see why—we both love owls and the color purple! When I spotted some miniature owl ornaments at Hobby Lobby, this idea for a Wintery Owls Christmas Ornament popped into my head.

How to Paint a Vintage Trunk

This vintage steamer trunk was all kinds of dirty and gross when I finally pulled it out of our basement to start giving it a bold, beautiful makeover. Even after a thorough cleaning, it still wasn’t shining bright like the diamond I knew it could be. It needed color. It needed depth. It needed some bling. But the biggest change, and what I’m going to share with you today, is how to paint a vintage trunk.
