Learning to Just Be in 2016

Lately I’ve seen a lot of people talking about their “one word” for 2016. Have you seen this too? Do you have a word to focus on this year? I’ve never been the kind of person that can focus in on just one word. But I have been spending a lot of time lately thinking about what I want this year to hold for me, and especially for this blog.

Welcome to the Merry Monday Link Party #85

Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holidays with family and friends. We did lots of celebrating, and ate way too much food (and cookies, oh the cookies!) I am very excited to be joining the Merry Monday Link Party in 2016 along with several awesomely talented co-hosts. I hope you’ll join us each week (starting each Sunday at 9EST/6PST) for a slew of inspiration and ideas! (Don’t worry, I’ll also still be hosting the Creative Spark parties each Wednesday) I can’t wait to see what this year will bring! Now let me introduce you to my co-hosts.

Blog It Forward: Ways to Give Back for the Holidays

#blogitforward

Christmas is right around the corner, and with it comes all those wonderful feelings of warmth, happiness and cheer. But what about those who don’t have a warm meal or cozy home to enjoy this holiday season? All month long, Wayfair has been inviting bloggers to Blog It Forward and find ways to spread cheer through simple acts of kindness.

This holiday season, our local Kroger stores are partnering with the Freestore Foodbank – an organization in the Greater Cincinnati area that provides meals and other services to those in need. And all you have to do to help is pull a coupon, ranging from $1 to $10, off a tear-pad placed at each register and have the cashier ring it up with your grocery items.

I’ve made a pledge to grab a coupon each time I check out this season. And I’ve been making plenty of trips to the store since we’re hosting a big family dinner on Christmas Eve!

I would like to challenge you to do the same. If you’re in the Greater Cincinnati area, please consider grabbing a Freestore Foodbank coupon the next time you’re at your local Kroger. Every dollar helps!

If you’re not local, or if your store isn’t participating, there are still plenty of simple ways to give back this holiday season. Drop a few dollars into a red kettle for The Salvation Army, or make a pledge to a charity of your choice. Your donation doesn’t have to be large to be appreciated!

If you’re a blogger, Wayfair has a special challenge for you! Write a post explaining how you give back, include the #BlogItForward button found here, and Wayfair will donate $50 to Habitat for Humanity! How easy is that!? You’ve got until December 31st to help make a difference!

What are your favorite ways to spread cheer and give back around the holidays?
