I took a slightly different approach to my Fall mantel this year. While I do love much of the traditional decor you find during the Fall season, it just doesn’t jive so well with my style. But I was still so inspired by the mantels I shared last week, that I had to change things up for the season, just with my own twist!
So I give you, my modern Fall mantel with touches of texture, neutrals and saffron yellow!
Here in Cincinnati, the air has just taken a turn into Fall. September has a tendency to go on like August for a while—hot, humid and insufferable—or to switch over to a more pleasant early Fall. With that crispness finally in the air, it put me in the mood to round up a bunch of wonderful Fall mantel decorating ideas as I start to work on my own!
You know how “throwback” is all the rage these days? Well, all these throwbacks got me thinking of all the crafting I did as a child, and of my favorite childhood craft supply: puffy paint! Though I think now it’s referred to as “dimensional craft paint” because I guess that sounds fancier?
Anyways, my brain has been coming up with all kinds of puffy paint diy projects to try. Then one day I was musing on my love of throw pillows. And this crafty brain-child was born… a puffy paint diy throw pillow!
This past weekend was sort of a big one: the chill of Fall was in the air, the NFL regular season kicked off (#whodey!), and Tom & I began our next big project: our Master Bedroom Makeover!
We haven’t done much of anything with our bedroom since moving in. Really, all we’ve done is arrange our furniture and hang our clothes in the closet. But we knew we’d get to it eventually, and one of the big new “pieces” of the room would be the quilt my mom and I began working on together last summer.
I’ve never considered myself to be the artist in the family. That title belongs to my cousin Laurel (remember my glass-blowing adventure last summer?). But that’s never stopped me from trying. And I think my skills are improving. That or I’m smart to choose abstract art since you can’t really mess it up!
