Hey there! I know it’s been quiet around here this week; I woke up Monday morning with a painful pinched nerve in my lower back and have been trying to take it easy. But my unexpected break gave me time to do something I’ve been wanting to do for a while—be creative for the sake of being creative. Despite this blog being my full-time focus, I don’t spend endless carefree hours crafting away in my craft room, and I’ve been yearning for a few quiet hours to play with my watercolor set. Maybe my back was looking out for me 😉 It was nice to settle into a chair and just paint for a little while—and then my creative juices started bubbling and these fresh ‘n fruity watercolor bookmarks started flowing from my paintbrush!
Most of the time when I paint, I paint abstract shapes and backgrounds. I’m trying to branch out and learn how to paint actual things. I’d love to create gorgeous watercolor flowers one of these days, but for now, I’m pretty excited about how these fruits turned out! Lucky for me, they’re essentially abstract blobs with some detail added in later—totally my skill level!
I’ll share step-by-step tutorials for each fruit next week, so stay tuned!
I think I like the cherries best—no wait, the strawberries… or maybe the limes? I don’t know! They’re all my favorite! I can’t wait to use these in the beach reads I’ll be packing for our trip to Florida next month!
