I don’t know about you, but I’m extremely glad that February is here. January was sort of brutal. The days have been cold and dreary and my creativity has clearly been in sync with the weather, because I have been struggling to get posts up here on the blog. Which you may have noticed. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got plenty on my to-do list, I just haven’t been able to muster the motivation to start on any of our larger projects, or the creativity to come up with some smaller crafts!

Hopefully with the beginning of a new month, I can leave these January blahs behind! Tom and I are also making a bit of progress on one of our 2015 House Goals: to finish our master bathroom!

Our bathroom has looked exactly like this since we finished painting our master bedroom back in {cough} September {cough}. Yep. Four months. We haven’t touched this room in four months.

Why? Well, #1) the holidays and #2) we’ve been stumped on paint color.

We loooove the color we chose for our Master Bedroom, but after painting a swatch in the bathroom, it kinda died on the walls. I don’t think it jives well with the color of our shower and tub tile, which is kind of a light almond color.

We have no intention of ripping all this tile out. So, we waited. And waited. And waited.

Until we finally stopped by the hardware store this weekend to look for paint swatches. After studying the colors in our bedroom quilt, I decided that a deep blue might look quite stunning. I picked up several blue and teal swatches…

until another swatch caught my eye.

You wouldn’t have guessed purple, would you (wink)??

Tom and I both love the lighter shade and the darker shade, but I think we’re leaning toward the lighter one. Mostly because our bathroom has a lot of wall space, and we’re worried that the darker shade may feel too intense.

Once we agreed on the paint, we started talking about the other updates we’d like to make to the bathroom. I think I mentioned these plans before, but I’ll outline them again. Since, you know, plans are clearly stated in the title of this post. Hehe.

As is becoming my habit, I pulled together a quick mood board to help us envision how the bathroom will come together. I know my mood board designing skills leave a bit to be desired, but at least it pulls all of my thoughts and ideas together onto one board!

In addition to the walls getting a fresh new color, we also plan to:

• Cut down our existing mirrors.
• Once cut, we’d like to add frames around the mirrors. We’ll stain the frames to match our cabinetry.
• Replace the vanity lights with new 4-light chrome fixtures.
• Add a chandelier to the ceiling (we have a rough-in for a fixture, but no fixture there currently).

Which brings me to a very important question… If you were to add a chandelier to the mood board above, which one would you choose?

So, where do we go from here? Well, our first step is going to be to get a paint sample pot and make sure we really really love it before committing to a Wild Geranium bathroom. Then we need to pick out our vanity fixtures and figure out how to get those mirrors off the wall! We still have a ways to go before we can cross this room off the list, but it feels good to have finally gotten over the paint hurdle!
