It’s another Dare to DIY Monday! This week’s subject is “entertain.” As anxious as I was to jump head-first into Christmas, I decided to challenge myself to do more of a Thanksgiving set-up, and see if I could incorporate the vase I made for last week’s party, by creating a Thanksgiving Table Centerpiece.
I love the colorful centerpiece I created, but I have to admit that now I feel completely behind, because I swear, everyone and their brother put up their Christmas trees this weekend. Ack! I feel rushed, and stressed!
Oh well, let’s save that for another post! This one is all about turkey-day table trimmings!
I like centerpieces that spread along the whole table, but aren’t so massive that they prevent conversation. I also like the bright, fresh colors that the flowers bring in… fall-ish, but not the expected oranges and reds.
I probably should have set the table, but decided not to. I bought our dishes when I was still in college – they’re like the Kohl’s version of Fiestaware, and I bought a set in every color. In retrospect, I probably should have reigned it in to two or three colors, but, I was 20. And just excited to have a crappy on-campus apartment with a tiny kitchen.
Anywho, the rainbow of colors can make it difficult to set a cohesive-looking table. And in the case of this set-up, I think I would prefer white dishes, to let the colors of the flowers and the runner really shine through.
I already owned everything I used. Booyah! The “runner” is some leftover fabric, the mercury glass tealight holders are from Kohl’s, the acorns, grapevine balls and other natural materials are from Michael’s, and the bud vases are really shot glasses. Honestly, I much prefer using them to hold flowers instead of tequila!

Cute arrangement! Here’s a tip….set 1 place setting with your Fiesta dishes. No one is blogland will know any different. 😉 Thanks for joining the Dare to DIY!

Thank you Kim!
Don’t feel bad. I barely have my tree up and who knows when I’ll get around to putting the decorations on! Your table looks great, so at least you have that to show for it! 😉
Thanks 🙂 Every year, it feels like December comes up out of nowhere! And for some reason, it feels even more urgent this year, even though there are still 4 more days in November!
This is such a fun and bright Thanksgiving tablescape! I love that fabric for a runner. And don’t worry, you have plenty of time before Christmas!!
