Have you jumped on the cloche trend this Spring? I know they’re not new, but it seems they’re suddenly everywhere! Maybe it has to do with the terrarium trend? I see a lot of similarities between the two. But whatever the reason, I am all for it! And I decided to join in the cloche-tastic fun and create this simple Spring butterfly cloche decor.

These little scenes and vignettes are perfect for adding a splash of Spring to just about anything – use it as a table centerpiece, coffee table decor, on a bookshelf, or you can even use miniature cloches as place cards for your Easter table. So many possibilities, and so easy to assemble!

How to make a Spring butterfly cloche:

Materials Needed:

Large cloche/bell jar
Large wood round
Faux moss rocks
- I found mine at Michaels, but these rocks are similar.
Moss mix and a moss mat
- I found both of these at Michaels, but this mix is similar.
An old book
Patterned paper
A butterfly shape (or a Silhouette Cameo)
Glue
Faux flowers

Tutorial:

1.) Start by tracing and cutting a butterfly shape onto patterned paper. Or use your Silhouette Cameo or similar machine to cut your shape. I cut one larger butterfly (about 4.25″ x 5.0″) out of patterned paper and one smaller butterfly (about 3.5″ x 4.0″) out of a book page. Lightly crease the center of the butterflies and roll the wings outward to give them some dimension.

2.) Remove one page from an old book and roll it into a cylinder, securing it with glue or tape. Then glue one butterfly to the roll. Set aside.

3.) To assemble the moss in the cloche, add a moss mat and/or a few moss rocks to the wood round. Stack up a couple of rocks and lean the rolled book page against them. Then fill in empty spots with the loose moss mix and a small sprig or two of faux flowers.

4.) Carefully add the glass cloche or bell jar over the rolled book page and rocks. If your wood round is larger than your cloche, add a few more rocks and another butterfly to the round, next to the cloche.
