Weekly Wishlist: Planners & Organizers

So I realize that 2013 is already underway by a few weeks, but there’s no time like the present to start getting organized!

As much as I love how my iPhone and Macbook talk to each other, I still have to have paper and a pen near me at all times. I’m constantly jotting notes on craft ideas or blog posts, making lists, and writing reminders to myself.

Chalkboard-style typography? Check. Uplifting, optimistic message? Check. The perfect way to start off a new year? Absolutely! via Girl In Gear Studio on Etsy.

These two options by Filofax are perfectly sized to fit into a tote, purse or briefcase, and stylish to boot! Finsbury personal organizer / Domino personal organizer

If you’re more of a notepad person, jot down your thoughts on this snazzy number by Anthropologie. There are plenty of lines to accomodate a to-do list or a shopping list, plus a quirky zebra character to keep you on task.

How do you stay organized? Are you a pen-and-paper person or a digital dandy?

Weekly Wishlist: Entryway Tables

This week, I’ve got my eye on entryway-worthy console tables / cabinets. A perfect place to drop your keys, the mail, or create a casual vignette.

Pier1 Anywhere Console Table
I like this classic console – you get shelves for displaying and drawers for storing. A perfect combo! / Pier 1 Anywhere Console

Pier1 Nicola Console
I have a lot of books in my “personal collection” so I love all of the shelves this console offers. And the added interest of the sides. / Pier 1 Nicola Console

Pier1 Bookseller Low Shelf
The addition of the “V” shelf for books is a fun, unique twist / Pier 1 Bookseller Low Shelf

Safavieh Gary Console Table
The sheen + ironwork gives this console an upscale look. For the swanky entryway, of course / Safavieh Console (originally found via RueLaLa)

Pier1 Alexandra Chest
Wanna take the swank up a notch? Then this one’s your guy, err, chest / Pier 1 Alexandra Chest

Weekly Wishlist: Not-So-Ugly Mugs

With the temps in the 20s here, I am constantly reaching for a warm mug of coffee or hot cocoa. And my kitchen cupboards are pretty well stocked as I’m a bit of mug-lover. Here’s a round up of some particularly marvelous mugs.

Anthro initial mug

These Anthropologie monogrammed mugs are a classic. Chic, simple, and the perfect size for a double-shot latte.

C&B coffee mug

The “simply stated” nature of this Crate & Barrel pick is great. Just in case there was any doubt as to what this mug contains.

World Market whit wax resist mugs

These tone-on-tone patterned mugs from World Market are a subtle, yet sophisticated way to have your cuppa in style.

IMKAdesign mug

The imperfect scallopy design of this hand-made mug and saucer from IMKAdesign is absolutely delightful.

World Market sophia mugs

The watercolor look and exotic-feeling pattern of these Sophia mugs from World Market would certainly jazz up your daily joe.

World Market polka dot stacking mugs

Umm, who doesn’t love polka dots? On stackable espresso cups? World Market with the win, again!

Pier 1 sheep mug

I love mugs with quirk. So if you’re into soft, cuddly sheep, this Pier 1 mug has your name on it. My favorite personal quirky mug? One with a sketch of William Shakespeare that reads “Bard Hair Day”. I love a good literary pun.

What’s on your Wishlist this week?

My New Year’s Wishlist

I’m tabling my usual “Weekly Wishlist” this week in favor of a more broad look at the year to come, and what I hope it brings, from home projects to life in general. Corny? Maybe. Rife with things resembling “resolutions”? Also maybe. Indulge me.

2013 Wishlist

– paint the following spaces: entryway, my office, family room, kitchen, powder room (pretty much our whole first floor); our master bedroom/bathroom, and maybe our “bonus room”

– reorganize the pantry (and get Tom to follow the system!)

– create a better, combined filing system for all our important documents, tax info, etc

– build bookshelves & a window seat for my office

– install crown molding

– install wall molding if we feel like it / have time to get fancy

– pick out a pattern and fabric so my mom can make us a quilt for our bed

– furnish some of our emptier rooms (dining room, bonus room)

– expand the vegetable garden; try growing some fall/winter items this year! (pumpkins???)

– attend Haven Conference in August

– take a trip to the West Coast (Oregon/Washington) to visit family and friends

– start some personal writing projects (that novel ain’t gonna write itself!)

– try to be more patient and get less discouraged when things don’t work out the way I want them to (oh, this applies to so. many. things.)

– try running again. (reminder to self: take it slowly. starting with intervals is okay. everyone has their own pace.)

Whew. Okay. That sure seems like a lot of stuff. But I think it’s doable! And if it’s not, that’s what the “try to be more patient” item is for 😉

What’s on your wishlist for 2013? A special item? A long-awaited project? A personal goal? I’d love to hear what you’re working on in the new year!
